A good number of users on the web have reported that they experience light leak issues with their Sony A7 and A7r cameras. After a short time, Sony officially admitted there is a problem and stated that their engineers are working on a solution. The light leaks through the lens mount and reported to be particularly apparent when shooting long exposures.
Well, good luck to Sony Engineers cause this problem obviously can only be solved with a physical modification. And they have to do it in the fastest and cheapest way, otherwise Sony will be in trouble.
Until that time, there are some temporary fixes which seem to work well (but not classy for sure);
- Put gaffer’s tape around the mount
- Put hair tie around the mount (by photographer Ferrell McCollough), better than tape
Come on Sony, at least give us a free hair ties with every A7 (two of them with A7r) purchase.
